The Summer Vacation

The Summer vacation is like the ice-cream it sure promises. Much awaited, absolutely amazing! Unlike the Diwali holidays, it is not the "begun today, over even before the Diwali feel vanishes." As for the Christmas break, F.Y.J.C onwards, it begins and ends on the Christmas day. Not exactly a vacation, right?

These days, the summer vacation alone has unique identifiers. As for Diwali, except for those special six days, everything else including the festive feel is year long. You can get galore, for example, the eats, the gifts, the reunions throughout the year.

Can you get Alfonso mangoes beyond the summer vacation? The raw mango 'panhe'? The unique "ambyachi dal"? The "mogra" fragrance? The sudden summer showers with that unique fragrance when the pitter patter raindrops meet the summer blazed soil? Nope!

Yes, the summer vacation is special. It lasts almost some three months. It begins circa April first week, and continues till the last week of July if you are a collegian. There is no homework, no impending exam looming large on the academic horizon.

You can be the king of your life as the elders, too, are zapped with the heat. You may attend a personality development seminar, you may read books (the percentage of people who love this activity would be very low indeed!), you might have to attend a summer internship. Mostly, however, you would spend hours lolling in front of the gaming console or the social media regulars, right?

The summer vacation is unique in yet another way. The summer vacation somehow soon starts stretching endlessly. After a fortnight of full blast laziness, you start missing the college schedule, right? So enjoy it till the happy feel lasts 'coz  like all the priceless things in life, you would realise its value, only when lost!

Pratima@The summer vacation! Would last at least till July 20! Already getting bored? Why not learn Spanish, German, French up to the A1 level? Complete the FY/SYJC foreign language study right away?
