Let it be midnight, and with you is a group of naughty/nutty friends. Someone is sure to shoot, "There is no proof that ghosts do not exist, so they must exist."
Yet another example that suits current contexts! "You cannot prove you are innocent, so you must be guilty." Both these are examples of a fallacy known as an informal type of fallacy called "appeal to ignorance."
An appeal to ignorance is a logical error where you claim something is true just because it has not been proven false, or false just because it has not been proven true.m Intellectually, running in circles, in brief!
