Nuggets@ Know thy Humanities

 In 1769, on August 15(!!!) was born Napoléon Bonaparte, a boon n bane for France, nay, for the whole of Europe.

 Exactly a month later, on September 14, 1769 was born this 'philosophe' so to say. A proponent of Romanticism, this polymath geographist, explorer, naturalist deeply influenced Darwin. Can you name him?

 A clue: His brother, a linguist, helped begin a famous university. 

Worth an exploration, right? Otherwise, wait till Friday for the right answer!
